First Nations artwork
Baraya Barray means Sing Country in the Gathang language and is part of Red Room Poetry’s First Languages program. It was created to celebrate and revive First Nations languages through school-based poetry workshops. The Whale Song series focuses on the East Coast’s whale migration, using it as inspiration for storytelling and cultural connection.
I developed a visual identity and artwork that mirrors the whales’ journey, capturing their movement and the different phases of migration. The colour palette takes inspiration from the ocean’s varied tones and the coastline. The cultural element is embedded in the ‘Y’ of the logo to create a connection to the project's narrative.
