VISUAL STORYTELLING

Good illustration says what words can't.

Sensitive or difficult topics, abstract ideas, or stories that don't have an obvious real-world image can be hard to capture. Illustration gives you full control over exactly what's shown and how. You won't need to book a shoot, settle for a stock image that almost fits, or risk a generic AI image that gives someone six fingers. It's also quicker and more affordable to put together than photography, and once it's made, it's yours to use. No one else's brand will ever look the same.

Icons

Small and simple, one main object or character. Used to signify an idea without words.

Characters & spot illustrations

Characters and stand-alone pieces with 1–5 elements, on a simple background. Used alongside written content.

Hero illustrations

Bigger scenes with multiple elements. Used to make an impact as a website banner or cover.

WORKING TOGETHER

How your illustration comes together.

We'll start with a quick briefing session to chat through the direction for your illustration. If you've got brand guidelines you'd like me to follow, send them over. If you don't, I'm happy to take charge and choose what works best for your brand.

Every illustration starts with a sketch, which is a loose idea of layout, composition and key elements for you to review before it's digitised. After that, every price includes two rounds of changes on the digitised piece.

TIMELINE

How long will it take?

It all depends on the amount of work, but to give you a guide, a few icons or a spot illustration usually take 3–5 business days to turn around, including the sketch stage. Hero illustrations take about a week, and larger sets or a full illustration collection usually take 2–3 weeks. Changes are generally turned around within 1–2 days.

These are rough guides and not a guarantee. Actual turnaround depends on my availability at the time. If you need it sooner, just let me know – I'm happy to see what I can do to work around a tighter deadline.

LICENSING

Who owns the artwork?

Short answer – I keep the copyright, and you get a licence to use the artwork. The licence covers what it's used for, how long for, and where. We'll sort all that out before you get your quote, so there are no surprises down the track.

Most people just need it for their website, socials and printed reports, and that's what the standard price covers. If the artwork is going somewhere that earns money, like paid ads, packaging, or products you're selling, that's a bigger licence – so it'll cost a little more. Full ownership is an option too, though it's rarely something you'll need.
