Baraya Barray

Baraya Barray means Sing Country in the Gathang language and is part of Red Room Poetry’s First Languages program. It was created to celebrate and revive First Nations languages through school-based poetry workshops. The Whale Song series focuses on the East Coast’s whale migration, using it as inspiration for storytelling and cultural connection.

Baraya Barray visual identity created for Red Room Poetry's First Languages program, celebrating First Nations languages through whale migration imagery
I developed a visual identity and artwork that mirror the whales' journey, representing their movement through the different phases of migration. The colour palette draws on the ocean's varied tones and the coastline. The cultural element is embedded into the logo's 'Y' to connect to the project's narrative.
